SERVICE OF LIGHT
Greeting/Invocation
We light the Evening Vesper Candle and say or sing:
Light and peace in Jesus Christ our Love!
~Thanks be to God!
Sunday Evening Hymn
O radiant Light, O Sun divine, Of God the Abba’s deathless face,
O image of the Light sublime that fills the heavenly dwelling place.
O Word of God, the Source of Life, Praise is your due by night and day.
Our happy lips must raise the strain of your esteemed and splendid Name.
O Jesus Christ as daylight fades, as shine the lights of eventide,
We praise the Abba with the Word, the Spirit blest and with them one.
Text: Phos Hilaron, transl. WG Storey; Tune: D.C. Isele
Thanksgiving for the Light
Let us give thanks to the God of Light, always and for everything.
~In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Praised be Adonai our God, Ruler of the Universe,
who led our ancestors in the faith by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, and prepared a lamp for the Anointed. Light up our darkness, O God, by the light of your Christ; may his word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path,
for you are full of loving kindness for your whole creation and we, your creatures glorify you: Abba, Word and Holy Breath of Love, now and forever. Amen!
SERVICE OF THE WORD
SUNDAY EVENING PSALM
Antiphon
Adonai’s revelation to my Master:
“Sit on my right: I will put all enmity beneath your feet.”
Psalm 109/110
Adonai, to the One who will reign:
“Come and be My companion;
We will undo selfishness and sin.”
The Spirit will bring from Zion
The power and strength to save:
Love changing foes into friends.
Precious from the day of your birth
on the holy mountain;
from the womb before the dawn I begot you.
The Promise holds true forever:
Your ministry is Loving-Kindness–
A priest like Melchizedek of old.
Companions of the Most High are ready
To liberate all who suffer from evil.
The One who calls us to justice
Invites us to join in the struggle:
Enlightening all who are unaware of the truth.
Drink from streams of Living Water,
Lift your head and celebrate the feast.
Glory to the ONE and to the WORD
And to the BREATH of Love!
As always before,
so now and evermore. Amen
Adonai’s revelation to my Master:
“Sit on my right: I will put all enmity beneath your feet.”
READING PHILIPPIANS 1: 21-24
For to me life is Christ, and death is gain.
If I go on living in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me.
And I do not know which I shall choose.
I am caught between the two.
I long to depart this life and be with Christ, for that is far better.
Yet that I remain in the flesh is more necessary for your benefit.
Responsory
R. Wherever we go we carry death in our body, the death that Jesus died, *that in this boy also, life may reveal itself, the life that Jesus lives. V. The One who raised Jesus to life will raise us also and bring us into God’s Presence *that in this body also, life may reveal itself, the life that Jesus lives. V. Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Breath of Love.
New Testament Canticle
Antiphon
Anyone who receives these little ones in my name receives me;
and anyone who receives me, receives the One who sent me.

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, Alleluia!
God’s judgments are true and just. (R.)
Praise our God all you servants, alleluia!
Those reverencing with awe, small and great. (R.)
Adonai our God, the Almighty reigns, alleluia!
Let us rejoice and exult, giving God the glory. (R.)
The marriage of the Lamb has come, alleluia!
And his bride has made herself ready.

As always before, so now and evermore. Amen!
Anyone who receives these little ones in my name receives me;
and anyone who receives me, receives the One who sent me.
SERVICE OF PRAYER
SERVICE OF PRAYER
Litany of Intercession
For all those who labor in the vineyards, orchards, fields and farms, that each may receive a living wage and the joy of working with Mother Earth to nourish the life of all living things, Love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For all who search for work, especially those forced by unjust legal and economic systems to leave their native lands in order to provide for their families, Love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For all those who have asked for our prayers and those for whom we have promised to pray, Love in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For all who are suffering in mind, body or spirit, and for those who care for them,
Love in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For all who have died, and for those who grieve their passing, Love, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Prayer of Jesus
Our Dear Abba in heaven…
Closing Prayer & Blessing
God of Day and God of Darkness, the harmony and balance of creation reveal the mystery of your love. Through the change of seasons you enable Mother Earth to give birth to a wondrous diversity of landscapes and life, winds and weather, creatures and crops. Help us to recognize and honor the holiness of each earthly being and the communion among all things so that our ways of living and loving may lead to the freedom, flourishing and fullness of life for all creation. For yours is the power and the glory of love, now and forever. ~Amen.
May the God who blesses creation with times and seasons + bless us with reverence and love for all people and all Earthkind. ~Amen
Let us bless Adonai. ~Thanks be to God.
Those who wish may end evening prayer with the Marian Antiphon.
Salve Regina, Mater misericordiae, Vita dulcedo et Spes nostra, salve!
Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae; Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes in hac lacrimarum vale. Eia, ergo, Advocata nostra, illos tuos misericordes oculos, ad nos converte; et Jesum benedictum fructum ventris tui, nobis, post hoc exilium ostende. O Clemens, O Pia, O Dulcis, Virgo Maria!
