SERVICE OF THE WORD
EVENING PSALMODY
Antiphon
You have crowned him with glory and honor, O God.
You have put all things under his feet, Alleluia!
Psalm 144/145a
I will give you glory, O Sovereign God!
I will bless your Name forever.
I will bless you day after day
and praise your Name forever.
Adonai is great, and worthy of praise!
Such greatness can never be measured!
Age to age proclaims your works,
recounts all your mighty deeds,
tells of your splendor and glory
and all of your wonderful works.
They reveal your awesome power,
and tell of your marvelous deeds.
They recall your abundant goodness,
joyfully sing and ring out your justice!
Adonai is kind and full of compassion,
patient, abounding in love.
How good is Adonai to all
Compassionate to every creature.
All your creatures shall thank you, Adonai,
and your friends shall repeat their blessing.
They shall speak of the glory of your reign
and declare your might, O God,
Let them make known to all
your might and your glorious reign.
Your dominion lasts forever
your rule for all generations.
Glory to the ONE and to the WORD
And to the BREATH of Love!
As always before,
so now and evermore. Amen
You have crowned him with glory and honor, O God.
You have put all things under his feet, Alleluia!
READING I CORINTHIANS 15:20-26,28
Christ has been raised from the dead,
the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For just as in Adam all die,
so too in Christ shall all be brought to life,
but each one in proper order:
Christ the firstfruits;
then, at his coming, those who belong to Christ;
then comes the end,
when he hands over the kindom to his God and Abba,
when he has destroyed every sovereignty
and every authority and power.
For he must reign until he has put all enmity under his feet.
The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
When everything is subjected to him,
then the Son himself will also be subjected
to the One who subjected everything to him,
so that God may be all in all.
Responsory
R. King of kings and Lord of lords *Mighty God and Prince of Peace. Alleluia, Alleluia! V. He shall sit upon the throne of David and there will be no end of peace; *Mighty God and Prince of Peace. Alleluia, Alleluia! V. Glory to the Abba and to the Word and to the Holy Breath of Love.
Gospel Canticle
Antiphon
Boldly set for all to read on garment and thigh his crest proclaims:
“Jesus reigns with Love, and rules over all.”
All others who may govern on earth are subject to him.
His claim to glory and power will stand never to be shaken–not ever.
My heart + is radiant with the Lord,
My whole being delights in God my Savior.
All people now will call me blessed
For God has loved this humble handmaid.
The Almighty has shown me great favor
Holy is the NAME,
Whose mercy embraces the faithful,
From one generation to the next.
The mighty arm of God,
Scatters the proud in their own conceit,
Pulls tyrants from their thrones
While lifting up the lowly:
Fills the famished with bounty,
And reveals the emptiness of riches.
Rescues lowly Israel,
Sharing such loving kindness,
As promised to our ancestors
To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.
Glory to the One and to the Word
And to the Breath of Love
As always before
So now and evermore. Amen
Boldly set for all to read on garment and thigh his crest proclaims:
“Jesus reigns with Love, and rules over all.”
All others who may govern on earth are subject to him.
His claim to glory and power will stand never to be shaken–not ever.
SERVICE OF PRAYER
Litany of Intercession
O Savior and Shepherd, you gather your sheep from every land;
– Give us pasture in green and fertile meadows.
O Heart of Compassion, you heal the sick and welcome the marginalized;
– Seek out the lost, guard the strong, call back those who have wandered away, strengthen those who waver, gather all sheep into one flock.
O Judge of all ages and all actions, help us to serve the least of your sisters and brothers,
and place us at your right hand ~ that we may inherit what you prepared for us from the beginning of the world.
O Prince of peace, open our minds to the truth, break the weapons of war,
– and inspire the nations with your peace.
O Deepest Desire of the human heart, gather all people and the whole of your creation into one beloved family ~ that united in the Holy Spirit, all may acknowledge and serve you in one another.
O Risen Christ, firstborn of the dead and first fruits of those who have fallen asleep,
– bring all who have died to the glory of the resurrection.
Prayer of Jesus
Our Dear Abba in heaven, holy be your name.
Your kin-dom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Do not bring us to the test but deliver us from evil;
For the kin-dom the power and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Closing Prayer & Blessing
O Holy One, you have revealed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus the immeasurable love which is the power and glory of your reign on Earth as in Heaven. May all who confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, follow him in sharing food with the hungry, healing the sick, welcoming immigrants and strangers, visiting those in prison and restoring the beauty and health of your creation.
Yours is the power and glory of love both now and forever. Amen.
May Christ, who rules with love over all creation, bless us this evening with joy and his peace ~Amen
Let us bless Adonai. ~Thanks be to God.
Those who wish may end evening prayer with the Marian Antiphon.
Marian Antiphon
Salve Regina, Mater misericordiae, Vita dulcedo et Spes nostra, salve!
Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae; Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes in hac lacrimarum vale. Eia, ergo, Advocata nostra, illos tuos misericordes oculos, ad nos converte; et Jesum benedictum fructum ventris tui, nobis, post hoc exilium ostende. O Clemens, O Pia, O Dulcis, Virgo Maria!
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God;
~ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray. Holy, Mighty and Immortal God, through the working of the Holy Spirit, you prepared the body and soul of the glorious virgin Mother Mary, as a worthy dwelling for your Word; grant that we, who celebrate her memory with that of all the saints, may with the help of her prayers, be freed from ever-present evil, and come to share the fulness of life eternal. Amen.
