HYMN FOR ASCENSION SUNDAY
Refrain: ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!
Our Christ is risen from the dead,
The first of children of the Light,
And has ascended to the throne
To share God’s glory and God’s might.
O Christians, why gaze heavenward?
The One ascended lives in you.
Your task now is to spread the love
His Name make known, his honor due.
Be not discouraged by this charge,
Upon your weaknesses insist.
The promise of the Paraclete
Assures your efforts his assist.
O risen Christ, ascended Love,
To you all praise and glory be;
With Abba, Spirit, Three in One,
Who live and reign eternally. Amen.
Text: St. Meinrad (1969) alt.; Tune: PASCHAL LAMB L.M.
SERVICE OF THE WORD
Evening Psalmody
Antiphon
I came from the Abba and have come into the world.
Now I am leaving the world again and going to the Abba.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
109/110
Adonai, to the One who will reign:
“Come and be My companion;
We will undo selfishness and sin.”
The Spirit will bring from Zion
The power and strength to save:
Love changing foes into friends.
Precious from the day of your birth
on the holy mountain;
from the womb before the dawn I begot you.
The Promise holds true forever:
Your ministry is Loving-Kindness–
A priest like Melchizedek of old.
Companions of the Most High are ready
To liberate all who suffer from evil.
The One who calls us to justice
Invites us to join in the struggle:
Enlightening all who are unaware of the truth.
Drink from streams of Living Water,
Lift your head and celebrate the feast.
Glory to the ONE and to the WORD
And to the BREATH of Love!
As always before,
so now and evermore. Amen
I came from the Abba and have come into the world.

Antiphon
We are citizens of heaven, and from heaven
we expect our Liberator to come, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Psalm 110/111
I will thank Adonai with all my heart
wherever the just meet or assemble.
Great are your works O my God;
a delight to explore and ponder.
Your creation is majestic and glorious
Your justice remains forever.
Who can forget your wonders!
filled with compassion and love!
You give food to all the faithful,
ever-mindful of your sacred covenant.
You revealed your strength to this people
by giving them land among the nations.
You rule with justice and truth;
Your decrees are helpful and certain;
each law reveals you can be trusted
and can be lived with faith and assurance.
Adonai has delivered this people
and established a covenant for ever.
Your holy Name fills us with awe!
Reverence for the Holy One is the beginning of wisdom,
wise are those who know how to live it!
Praise Adonai forever!
Glory to the ONE and to the WORD
And to the BREATH of Love!
As always before,
so now and evermore. Amen
We are citizens of heaven, and from heaven
we expect our Liberator to come, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Canticle from the Book of Revelation
Antiphon
We have a great high priest, Jesus the Word of God.
He has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of majesty
in the heavens, Alleluia, Alleluia!
You are worthy O Lord our God,
to receive all glory and honor and power.
For you created all things;
by your Word they were created and have their being.
You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals,
Because you were slain,
and by your blood you have ransomed for God
people from every tribe and language and nation;
you have made of them a priestly people to serve our God
and to reign with justice upon the earth.
Worthy is the Lamb,
the Lamb that was slain
to receive all power and wealth,
wisdom and might,
honor and glory and praise.
Praise and honor, glory and power,
to the One who sits upon the throne
and to the Lamb forever and ever.
Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Holy Breath of Love.
As always before, so now and evermore. Amen.
We have a great high priest, Jesus the Word of God.
He has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of majesty
in the heavens, Alleluia, Alleluia!
READING I CORINTHIANS
If you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of the Abba; keep your mind on things that are above and that last, not on things below that perish.

Gospel Canticle
Antiphon
Abba, I have manifested your Name to the ones
whom you have given to me. I pray now for them, not for the world, for I am coming to you. Alleluia!
Canticle of Mary
My heart + is radiant with the Lord,
My whole being delights in God my Savior.
All people now will call me blessed
For God has loved this humble handmaid.
The Almighty has shown me great favor
Holy is the NAME,
Whose mercy embraces the faithful,
From one generation to the next.
The mighty arm of God,
Scatters the proud in their own conceit,
Pulls tyrants from their thrones
While lifting up the lowly:
Fills the famished with bounty,
And reveals the emptiness of riches.
Rescues lowly Israel,
Sharing such loving kindness,
As promised to our ancestors
To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.
Glory to the One and to the Word
And to the Breath of Love
As always before
So now and evermore. Amen
Abba, I have manifested your Name to the ones
whom you have given to me. I pray now for them, not for the world,
for I am coming to you. Alleluia!
