Gentle Shepherd, Living Bread, Christ arisen from the dead,

Be our Paschal Feast today As we sing for joy and say:  ALLELUIA!

Christ, our Mother, gives us birth as new people for the Earth,

With his Body feeds his own, nursing us ’til we are grown, ALLELUIA!

“Peace to you,” our Shepherd said, Then he blessed and broke the bread,

Passed the cup of Paschal wine Filling us with life divine: ALLELUIA!

Gate through which your sheep are led, Pasture where your sheep are fed,

Altar, Priest and Sacrifice: Love alone that will suffice: ALLELUIA!

Shepherd, Mother, Sheepfold-Gate, Call by name to all who wait:

“Come and follow, join the strife; Take the Way that leads to life: ALLELUIA!”

SERVICE OF THE WORD

Evening Psalmody

Antiphon/Refrain

O Jesus, Gentle Shepherd, and Living Bread,

feed us, guide us to the land of everlasting life.

O Love you are my Shepherd,

there is nothing I shall want.

Fresh and green are the pastures where you give me repose.

You have prepared me a banquet

in the face of all that I fear,

my head you have anointed with precious oil and my cup is overflowing.

Surely goodness and kindness

shall follow me all my days,

in the Heart of your Love shall I dwell, forever and ever.

Psalm 23: Tobias Colgan, OSB, alt.

Antiphon Two

O Adonai, you have broken my bonds

and now I offer you a sacrifice of praise. Alleluia, Alleluia!

Psalm 97/98

 Sing a new song to Adonai,

the God of wonderful deeds;

whose right hand and holy arm

have brought salvation.

God has made the victory known

and has revealed justice to the nations,

Remembering both truth and love

for the house of Israel.

All the ends of Earth have seen

the salvation of our God.

Shout to Adonai, O Earth,

ring out your joy!

Sing praise to God with the harp,

with strings and the sound of music.

With trumpets and the sound of the horn

acclaim our Sovereign God!

Let the sea and its creatures roar,

the world and all its creatures.

Let the rivers clap their hands

and the hills ring out  their joy

at the presence of Adonai, who comes,

who comes to rule the Earth.

God will rule the world with justice

and govern the peoples with fairness.

Glory to the ONE and to the WORD

And to the BREATH of Love;

as always before,

so now and evermore. Amen.

O Adonai, you have broken my bonds

and now I offer you a sacrifice of praise. Alleluia, Alleluia!

The marriage of the Lamb has come, Alleluia!

And his bride has made herself ready. Alleluia, Alleluia!

READING          I Peter 2:21-25

Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example

that you should follow in his steps.

“He committed no sin; no guile was found upon his lips.”

When he was reviled, he did not revile in return;

when he suffered, he did not threaten;

but he trusted in the One who judges justly.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree of the cross,

that we might die to sin and live to righteousness and justice.

By his wounds you have been healed.

For you were straying like sheep,but now you have now returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

 Responsory

R.  The Good Shepherd has risen * alleluia, alleluia!.

V. He gave his life for his sheep and deigned to die for his flock *alleluia, alleluia!

V.  Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Holy Breath of Love.

Gospel Canticle

Antiphon

“I am the Shepherd of the sheep;
I am the way, the Truth and the Life.

I am the Good Shepherd, and I know mine, and mine know me. Alleluia!

Canticle of Mary

My heart + is radiant with the Lord,

My whole being delights in God my Savior.

All people now will call me blessed

For God has loved this humble handmaid.

The Almighty has shown me great favor

Holy is the NAME,

Whose mercy embraces the faithful,

From one generation to the next.

The mighty arm of God,

Scatters the proud in their own conceit,

Pulls tyrants from their thrones

While lifting up the lowly:

Fills the famished with bounty,

And reveals the emptiness of riches.

Rescues lowly Israel,

Sharing such loving kindness,

As promised to our ancestors

To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.

Glory to the One and to the Word

And to the Holy Breath of Love

As always before

So now and evermore. Amen

“I am the Shepherd of the sheep;
I am the way, the Truth and the Life.

I am the Good Shepherd, and I know mine, and mine know me. Alleluia!
