~And my mouth will proclaim your praise.

Blest is the One who comes in the NAME of our God

~Hosanna in the highest!

ADVENT MORNING HYMN

All may sing or alternate the verses of an Advent Morning Hymn—such as

We raise a song of morning praise, O Maker of the starry night

That you might free us from the dark and find us with the coming light.

Of old a virgin, big with child Came with a star to blind the night,

By giving wise and simple folk, God’s gift the God-Man Jesus Christ.

He comes to raise the poor from death, The virgin’s son from Bethlehem;

He comes to fill the prophet’s mouth, Anointed of Jerusalem.

This is our faith, our living hope, Though all the earth withdraws and dies,

For as the morning sun will dawn we know the Word of God will rise.

Praise God the Abba of us all, And Jesus Christ Emmanuel

Together in the Spirit praise the Holy One of Israel.  Amen.

PSALMODY

Canticle of Hannah                                                                                I Samuel 2: 1-7

Antiphon

Sing to Adonai a new song;

God’s praise rings out from the ends of the Earth.

“My heart exults in Adonai,
my horn is exalted in my God.
I have swallowed up my enemies;
I rejoice in my victory.”

“The bows of the mighty are broken,
while the tottering gird on strength.
The well-fed hire themselves out for bread,
while the hungry batten on spoil.
The barren wife bears seven sons,
while the mother of many languishes.”

“Adonai puts to death and gives life;
casts down to the nether world;
and raises up again.
Adonai makes poor and makes rich,
humbles, but also exalts.”

“God raises the needy from the dust;
from the dung heap lifts up the poor,
To seat them with nobles
and make a glorious throne their heritage.”

Glory to the ONE and to the WORD

And to the BREATH of Love;

as always before,

so now and evermore. Amen.

Sing to Adonai a new song;

God’s praise rings out from the ends of the Earth.

READING      ISAIAH 49: 14-18

Zion said, “Adonai has forsaken me;
my God has forgotten me.”
Can a mother forget her infant,
be without tenderness for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget,
I will never forget you.
See, upon the palms of my hands I have written your name;
your walls are ever before me.

Responsory

R. Soon Adonai your ruler will come * and he shall be called Emmanuel.

V. Justice shall flower in his days and profound peace. * and he shall be called Emmanuel.  V. Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Holy Breath of Love.

CANTICLE OF ZACHARY–  LUKE 1:68-79

 Antiphon

All generations shall call me blessed,

because the One who is mighty has done great things for me, Alleluia!

Blessed + be Adonai, the God of Israel,

Who visits this people to set us free

Raising for us a sign of salvation

In the house and family of David.

God promised throughout past ages

In words of holy prophets

To save us from our enemies,

And from the control of our oppressors.

Adonai favored our ancestors

And remembered the sacred covenant.

The pledge to Abraham and Sarah

Is now renewed for us;

That freed from the grip of our foes

We might worship without fear

And be both just and holy

For the rest of our days.

And you, child, called “prophet of the Most High,”

Will go ahead to prepare the way,

By teaching this people of salvation

Through forgiveness of their sins.

For the loving compassion of the Holy One

As the Rising Sun will shine upon us

To illumine the darkness and dispel death’s shadow

To guide our feet on the way of peace.

Glory to the ONE and to the WORD

and to the BREATH of Love!

As always before,

so now and evermore.  Amen

All generations shall call me blessed,

because the One who is mighty has done great things for me, Alleluia!

Our Dear Abba in heaven…

Closing Prayer & Blessing

Creator and Redeemer of  humankind, your eternal Word took flesh on Earth when the Virgin Mary placed her life at the service of your plan.  Lift our minds in watchful hope to hear the voice which announces his glory, and open our hearts to receive the Spirit who prepares us for his coming.  We ask this through the same Incarnate Word, Jesus Emmanuel.  Amen.

May the  Holy ONE  who makes justice to rain down from the heavens +

shower this Earth with justice and peace.  Amen.

Let us bless Adonai.
