SERVICE OF LIGHT

Greeting/Invocation
We light the Evening Candle and say or sing:

Light and Peace in Jesus Christ our Lord!

~Thanks be to God!

Stay with us Lord for it is evening,

~And the day is almost over.

Hymn for Saturday Evening

Abide, O Risen Savior,

Among us by your grace;

And may your presence lead us

In faith to seek your Face.

Abide, O Great Redeemer,

Among us by your Word;

To light our path and guide us,

In grace and truth restored.

Abide, with us, O Jesus,

Grant that our love may be

The witness to your Spirit,

The sign that All can see.

Abide Victorious Savior,

Among us as our Guide;

O Light of light unending,

Be always at our side.

To Abba, Word and Spirit,

Eternal One in Three,

As was, and is forever,

All praise and glory be.  Amen

SERVICE OF THE WORD

Evening Psalm

Antiphon

My vows to Adonai I will fulfill in the presence of all God’s people.

I trust in God, even when I say,

“I am sorely afflicted,”

I believe, even when I cry out,

“No human can be trusted!”

What gift can repay Adonai

for such goodness to me?

I will raise the cup of freedom

as I call on the Holy Name!

And I will fulfill all my vows

in the presence of the people.

Adonai you hate to see

your faithful ones perish and die.

It is I, the servant you love

the one you have freed from bondage,

who calls to you now for help.

I bring an offering of thanks

as I call on your Name.

I fulfill my vows to you, Adonai

standing before your assembly,

in the courts of your house, my God,

in the very heart of Jerusalem.

Glory to the ONE and to the WORD

And to the BREATH of Love!

As always before,

so now and evermore.  Amen

My vows to Adonai I will fulfill in the presence of all God’s people.

Reading         II Thessalonians 2: 16-17

May Jesus Christ himself and God our Abba,
who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement
and good hope through grace,
encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed
and word.
 Responsory

R. If you want to boast, you should boast in the Lord * for Christ has chosen the weak to confound the strong.  V. Though we are weak, in Christ we are strong, and for his sake we must bear all things to preach his gospel; * for Christ has chosen the weak to confound the strong.  V.  Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Breath of Love.

Gospel Antiphon

At midnight the cry was heard:

“The Bridegroom is here, go out to meet him!”

And those who were ready went with I’m to the wedding feast. Alleluia

Canticle from Philippians 2: 6-11

 Refrain: Lord Jesus.

Though he was in the form of God

Jesus did not  snatch at equality with God.

He emptied himself,

taking the form of  a servant,

being born in the likeness of human beings.

And being found in human form,

he humbled himself,

and became obedient unto death,

even death on a cross.

Therefore God has highly exalted him

and bestowed on him the name

that is above every other name.

That at the name of Jesus

every knee should bow

in heaven and on earth

and under the earth.

And every tongue confess

that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Abba.

Glory to the Abba and to the Word

And to the Breath of Love

As always before

So now and evermore. Amen

At midnight the cry was heard:

“The Bridegroom is here, go out to meet him!”

And those who were ready went with I’m to the wedding feast. Alleluia

.

For the people of this and every other nation, that all be guided in the ways of justice and peace,

For the health and well-being of all creation, and the wisdom and will to conserve it,

For all those who have asked for our prayers and those for whom we have promised to pray,

For all who are suffering in mind, body or spirit, and for those who care for them,

Prayer of Jesus

Our Dear Abba…

Closing Prayer & Blessing

God of Life and Love, you sent Jesus to announce the Reign of Heaven in parables and in  his way of living and loving among us.  You prepare in each day a great banquet to celebrate the marriage of heaven and earth; may we accept your invitation, vest ourselves in the wedding garment of all-inclusive love, and join with the rest of Earthkind in the  feast. For yours is the power and the glory of love, now and forever. ~Amen.

May the God who invites all to the feast, bless us and all Earthkind with freedom and the fulness of life.  ~Amen

Let us bless Adonai.     ~Thanks be to God.

Salve Regina, Mater misericordiae, Vita dulcedo et Spes nostra, salve!
