SERVICE OF LIGHT
Greeting/Invocation
We light the EVENING CANDLE and say or sing:
Blessed is the Kin-dom of the Abba, and of the Word and of the Holy Spirit! ~ As always before, so now and evermore, Amen!
HYMN FOR TRINITY DAY
O Trinity of Common Life
Who are but One in Mystery–
As now our day draws to its close,
To us give peace and unity.
We praised you as our day began
And seek your mercy as it ends;
Our glory is to sing your praise
Wher’er life’s pathway turns or bends.
Let all creation praise our God
The Abba and Beloved Son,
The Spirit who now lives in us;
Our God who reigns forever One. Amen!
SERVICE OF THE WORD
Evening Psalmody
Antiphon
O Adonai, how great are your works,
how deep are your designs!
Psalm 144/145a
I will give you glory, O Sovereign God!
I will bless your Name forever.
I will bless you day after day
and praise your Name forever.
Adonai is great, and worthy of praise!
Such greatness can never be measured!
Age to age proclaims your works,
recounts all your mighty deeds,
tells of your splendor and glory
and all of your wonderful works.
They reveal your awesome power,
and tell of your marvelous deeds.
They recall your abundant goodness,
joyfully sing and ring out your justice!
Adonai is kind and full of compassion,
patient, abounding in love.
How good is Adonai to all
Compassionate to every creature.
Glory to the ONE and to the WORD
And to the BREATH of Love!
As always before,
so now and evermore. Amen
O Adonai, how great are your works,
how deep are your designs!
Antiphon Two
How many are your works, Adonai!
In wisdom you have made them all!
Psalm 144/145b
All your creatures shall thank you, Adonai,
and your friends shall repeat their blessing.
They shall speak of the glory of your reign
and declare your might, O God.
Let them make known to all
your might and your glorious reign.
Your dominion lasts forever
your rule for all generations.
You are faithful in all your words
and loving in all your deeds.
You support those who have fallen
and raise all those who are bowed down.
The eyes of all creatures look to you
and you give them their food in due season.
You open wide your hand
to feed all living things.
Most just in all your ways
most loving in every deed.
You are near to all who call
who cry out from their hearts.
You grant them their desires,
hear their cry and save them.
You protect and keep alive
All who strive to love.
Let me sing the praise of my Love
let all creatures bless the holy Name,
as always before,
so now and evermore. Amen.
How many are your works, Adonai!
In wisdom you have made them all!
Antiphon Three
Adonai will give strength to this people.
Adonai will bless this people with peace.
Psalm 147
O Praise Adonai, Jerusalem,
Zion, praise the Holy One.
God’s-Love gives strength to the little ones,
And courage to face their fears.
Peace to be their sure refuge,
Golden wheat to share at the feast.
God’s-Word cuts through the resistance
That fosters greed and conceit;
Sends snow heavy as wool
And scatters frost like ashes;
Hurls down hail like crumbs,
Freezes the waters with Winter.
God’s-Word melts them with Spring,
God’s-Breath makes the waters flow.
The Word is written on our hearts
To guide us with wisdom and justice;
That together we may share with all people
God’s ways of justice and truth.
Glory to the Abba and the Word
and the Holy Breath of Love.
As always before,
so now and evermore. Amen.
Adonai will give strength to this people.
Adonai will bless this people with peace.
READING Exodus 34:5-6
Having come down in a cloud, ADONAI stood with Moses there
and proclaimed his name, “ADONAI.”
Thus ADONAI passed before him and cried out,
“ADONAI, ADONAI, a merciful and gracious God,
patient, just, and rich in kindness and fidelity.”
Responsory
R. How great is your Name, Adonai our God, through all the Earth. V. Your majesty is praised above the heavens on the lips of children and of babes you’ve found praise to foil the obstinate, to silence the proud and the greedy.
Gospel Canticle
Antiphon
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal — have mercy on us!
Canticle of Mary
My heart + is radiant with the Lord,
My whole being delights in God my Savior.
All people now will call me blessed
For God has loved this humble handmaid.
The Almighty has shown me great favor
Holy is the NAME,
Whose mercy embraces the faithful,
From one generation to the next.
The mighty arm of God,
Scatters the proud in their own conceit,
Pulls tyrants from their thrones
While lifting up the lowly:
Fills the famished with bounty,
And reveals the emptiness of riches.
Rescues lowly Israel,
Sharing such loving kindness,
As promised to our ancestors
To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.
Glory to the One and to the Word
And to the Breath of Love
As always before
So now and evermore. Amen
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal — have mercy on us!
SERVICE OF PRAYER
Litany of Intercession
O Dear Abba, send your Spirit to us who do not know how to pray as we ought; ~ may the Spirit help us in our frailty, and ask for us those gifts that will free us to do your will.
O Word of God, you asked the Abba to send your Holy Spirit upon us; ~make us worthy to have the Spirit of Truth and Wisdom with us at all times, that we may know ourselves as called and gifted to join you in bringing life to the world.

Our Dear Abba in heaven…

Those who wish may end evening prayer with SALVE REGINA
O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.
Pray for us O Holy Mother of God!
~That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ!
Let us pray.
Holy, Immortal and Mighty God, through the working of the Holy Spirit, you prepared the body and soul of the glorious virgin Mother, Mary, as a worthy dwelling for your Son, grant that we, who celebrate her memory each evening may, with the help of her prayers, be freed from ever-present evil, and be brought to the fulness of life eternal. Amen.
