HYMN FOR APOSTLES’ FEASTS
Apostles of our ancient faith, With all the heav’ns we sing your fame
Whose sound went forth in all the earth To tell of Christ and bless his name.
You took the Gospel to the poor, The Word of God alight in you,
Which in our day is told again: That timeless word, forever new.
You told of Christ who died for us And out of death triumphant rose,
Who was the Truth that makes us free And changeless through the ages goes.
Like sparks among the straw, you ran To set the universe ablaze!
To kindle love of Jesus Christ And take his peace on all your ways.
Praise Abba, Word and Spirit blest Whose gift is faith that never dies:
A light in darkness now, until The daystar in our hearts arise. Amen.
Text: Stanbrook Abbey Hymnal (1971), alt.; Tune: Plainsong Mode VIII
SERVICE OF THE WORD
Evening Psalmody
Antiphon
Your friends, Adonai, shall make known
the glorious splendor of your reign, Alleluia!
Psalm 144/145
I will give you glory, O Sovereign God!
I will bless your Name forever.
I will bless you day after day
and praise your Name forever.
Adonai is great, and worthy of praise!
Such greatness can never be measured!
Age to age proclaims your works,
recounts all your mighty deeds,
tells of your splendor and glory
and all of your wonderful works.
They reveal your awesome power,
and tell of your marvelous deeds.
they recall your abundant goodness,
joyfully sing and ring out your justice!
Adonai is kind and full of compassion,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
How good is Adonai to all
Compassionate to every creature.
All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord,
and your friends shall repeat their blessing.
They shall speak of the glory of your reign
and declare your might, O God,
Let them make known to all
your might and your glorious reign.
Your dominion lasts forever
your rule for all generations.
Let me sing the praise of my Love
let all creatures bless the holy Name,
as always before,
so now and evermore. Amen.
Your friends, Adonai, shall make known
the glorious splendor of your reign, Alleluia!
READING Ephesians 4:22-24
Put away the old self, of your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires and Acquire a fresh, spiritual way of thinking. You must put on the true self created in God’s image, whose justice and holiness are born of truth.

Gospel Canticle
Antiphon
I call you my friends, no longer are you slaves;
for I’ve made known to you all that the Abba told me!
Canticle of Mary
My heart + is radiant with the Lord,
My whole being delights in God my Savior.
All people now will call me blessed
For God has loved this humble handmaid.
The Almighty has shown me great favor
Holy is the NAME,
Whose mercy embraces the faithful,
From one generation to the next.
The mighty arm of God,
Scatters the proud in their own conceit,
Pulls tyrants from their thrones
While lifting up the lowly:
Fills the famished with bounty,
And reveals the emptiness of riches.
Rescues lowly Israel,
Sharing such loving kindness,
As promised to our ancestors
To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.
Glory to the One and to the Word
And to the Breath of Love
As always before
So now and evermore. Amen
I call you my friends, no longer are you slaves;
for I’ve made known to you all that the Abba told me, alleluia!
