  SERVICE OF LIGHT

Greeting/Invocation

We light the EVENING CANDLE and say or sing:

Blessed is the Kin-dom of the Abba, and of the Word and Holy Spirit!

~ As always before, so now and evermore, Amen!

HYMN FOR TRINITY DAY

God is One, unique and holy, endless Dance of love and light,

Only Source of mind and body, star cloud atom, day and night:

Ev’ry thing that is or could be tells God’s anguish and delight.

God is Oneness-by-Communion, never distant or alone,

At the heart of all belonging: loyal Friendship, loving Home,

Common Mind and shared Agreement, common Loaf and sung Shalom.

Through the pain that loving Wisdom could foresee, but not forestall,

God is One, though torn and anguished in the Christ’s forsaken call;

One through death and resurrection; One in Spirit, One for all.

God is One, unique and holy, endless Dance of love and light,

Only Source of mind an body, star cloud atom, day and night:

Ev’ry thing that is or could be tells God’s anguish and delight.

SERVICE  OF THE WORD

Evening Psalmody

 Antiphon/Refrain

How Great is your Name, Adonai Elohim, through all the Earth!

Psalm 8

Your majesty is praised above the heavens

on the lips of children and of babes

you found praise to foil the enemy

to silence the foe and the rebel.  (Refrain)

The heavens are the work  of your hands

the moon and the stars you arranged.

What are we that you should keep us in mind

mortal beings that you care for us? (Refrain)

Yet you made us little less than gods;

with honor and glory you crowned us,

gave us charge o’er the work of your hands,

put all things under our care. (Refrain)

All of  them sheep and cattle,

yes, even the savage beasts,

birds of the air, and fish

that make their way through the water. (Refrain)

READING          Romans 11:33-36

How deep are the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How inscrutable God’s  judgments, how unsearchable God’s  ways! For “who has known the mind of Adonai? Or who has been God’s counselor? Who has given God anything so as to deserve return?” For from God and through God and for God all things are. To God be glory forever. Amen.

 Responsory

R.  Oh, the depth of the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge in God!

How unsearchable God’s judgements!  How untraceable God’s ways!

Source, Guide and Goal of all that is — to whom be glory forever!  Amen!

Gospel Canticle

Antiphon

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal — have mercy on us!

Canticle of Mary

My heart + is radiant with the Lord,

My whole being delights in God my Savior.

All people now will call me blessed

For God has loved this humble handmaid.

The Almighty has shown me great favor

Holy is the NAME,

Whose mercy embraces the faithful,

From one generation to the next.

The mighty arm of God,

Scatters the proud in their own conceit,

Pulls tyrants from their thrones

While lifting up the lowly:

Fills the famished with bounty,

And reveals the emptiness of riches.

Rescues lowly Israel,

Sharing such loving kindness,

As promised to our ancestors

To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.

Glory to the One and to the Word

And to the Breath of Love

As always before

So now and evermore. Amen

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal — have mercy on us!

SERVICE OF PRAYER

Litany of Intercession

O Dear Abba, send your Spirit to us who do not know how to pray as we ought; ~ may the Spirit help us in our frailty, and ask for us those gifts that will free us to do your will.

O Word of God, you asked the Abba to send your Holy Spirit upon us; ~make us worthy to have the Spirit of Truth and Wisdom with us at all times, that we may know ourselves as called and gifted to join you in bringing life to the world.

O Spirit and Breath  of God, fill us with your life ~that we may bear the fruits of love and joy, peace and serenity, kindness and generosity, modesty and chastity, endurance and patience, faithfulness and self-control.

Prayer of Jesus

Our Dear Abba in heaven…

Closing Prayer

We bless and thank you, Gracious Abba, Word, and Breath of Love.  You reveal yourself to us in the depths of our being and draw us to share in your life and your  love.  One  God, three Persons, be near to the people formed in your image, and close to all creation which your love brings to life now and forever.  Amen.

Blessing

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God the Abba and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with us now and forever.  ~Amen!

Those who wish may end evening prayer with SALVE REGINA

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

Pray for us O Holy Mother of God!

~That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ!

Let us pray.

Holy, Immortal and Mighty God, through the working of the Holy Spirit, you invited the glorious virgin Mary, to become the Mother of your Son; grant that we, who celebrate her memory each evening may, with the help of her prayers, be freed from ever-present evil, and be brought to the fulness of life eternal. Amen.
