HYMN FOR EASTER V

Come my Way, my Truth, my Life; Such as Way as gives us breath;

Such a Truth as ends all strife; such a life as killeth death.

Come, my Light, my Feast, my Strength; Such a Light as shows a feast;

Such a Feast as mends in length; Such a Strength as makes his guest.

Come, my Joy, my Love, my Heart: Such a Joy as none can move;

Such a Love as none can part; Such a Heart as joys in love.

Text: George Herbert (1593-1632) ; Tune: THE CALL 7 7 7 7; R. Vaughn Williams (1872-1958)

SERVICE    OF THE WORD

Evening Psalmody

Antiphon

 Seek the things that are above where Jesus sits

at the right hand of the Abba,  Alleluia, Alleluia!

Psalm 109/110

Adonai, to the One who will reign:

“Come and be My companion;

We will undo selfishness and sin.”

The Spirit will bring from Zion

The power and strength to save:

Love changing foes into friends.

Precious from the day of your birth

on the holy mountain;

from the womb before the dawn I begot you.

The Promise holds true forever:

Your ministry is Loving-Kindness–

A priest like Melchizedek of old.

Companions of the Most High are ready

To liberate all who suffer from evil.

The One who calls us to justice

Invites us to join in the struggle:

Enlightening all who are unaware of the truth.

Drink from streams of Living Water,

Lift your head and celebrate the feast.

Glory to the ONE and to the WORD

and to the BREATH of Love,

as always before,

so now and evermore, Amen.

 Seek the things that are above where Jesus sits

at the right hand of the Abba, Alleluia!

Antiphon

 Alleluia! Who is like Adonai our God,

who has risen on high to the throne?

Above the heavens is this glory. Alleluia, Alleluia!

Psalm 112/113

Servants of God, sing praise,

praise God’s holy Name.

Bless the Name of the Holy One,

both now and forever.

From the rising of the sun to its setting

praised be the Holy Name.

Adonai towers above the nations;

God’s glory shines over the heavens.

Who compares to the Holy One?

Who is enthroned so high,

yet stoops from the heights to look down,

to observe both heaven and Earth?

Love lifts the humble from the dust

And raises the poor from the mire

To be seated with leaders of the people,

and to wear a crown of joy;

The childless, no longer alone,

Rejoice in many children.

Glory to the ONE and to the WORD

 And to the BREATH of Love;

as always before,

so now and evermore. Amen.

 Alleluia! Who is like Adonai our God,

who has risen on high to the throne?

Above the heavens is this glory. Alleluia, Alleluia!

Canticle from the Book of Revelation

Antiphon

Jesus stood in the midst of his disciples and said:

Peace be with you, Alleluia!

Salvation and power and glory belong to our God, Alleluia!

Whose judgments are true and just:  Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Praise our God, all you who serve Adonai, Alleluia!

Those living with reverence and awe, small and great. Alleluia,  Alleluia, Alleluia!

Adonai Elohim, the Almighty reigns, Alleluia!

Let us rejoice and exult, giving God the glory. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

The marriage of the Lamb has come, Alleluia!

And his bride has made herself ready. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

She has been given for her clothing, Alleluia!

Fine linen glistening and pure. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Holy Breath of Love.

As always before, so now and evermore.  Amen.

Jesus stood in the midst of his disciples and said:

Peace be with you, Alleluia!

READING          I Peter 2:4-5

Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings
but chosen and precious in the sight of God, and, like living stones,
let yourselves be built into a spiritual house
to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

 Responsory

R.  The Good Shepherd has risen * alleluia, alleluia!  V. He gave his life for his sheep, and deigned to die for his flock. *alleluia, alleluia!  V.  Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Holy Breath of Love.

Gospel Canticle

Antiphon

I am the Shepherd of the sheep.

I am the Way the Truth and the Life.

I am  the Good Shepherd, and I know mine, and mine know me. Alleluia!

Canticle of Mary

My heart + is radiant with the Lord,

My whole being delights in God my Savior.

All people now will call me blessed

For God has loved this humble handmaid.

The Almighty has shown me great favor

Holy is the NAME,

Whose mercy embraces the faithful,

From one generation to the next.

The mighty arm of God,

Scatters the proud in their own conceit,

Pulls tyrants from their thrones

While lifting up the lowly:

Fills the famished with bounty,

And reveals the emptiness of riches.

Rescues lowly Israel,

Sharing such loving kindness,

As promised to our ancestors

To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.

Glory to the One and to the Word

And to the Breath of Love

As always before

So now and evermore. Amen

I am the Shepherd of the sheep.

I am the Way the Truth and the Life.

I am  the Good Shepherd, and I know mine, and mine know me. Alleluia!

O Jesus the Vine, graft us to yourself that we may bear much fruit.

O Jesus the Way, show us the path and how to walk with you to freedom, flourishing and the fullness of life.

Let us pray.

Holy, Immortal and Mighty God, you have brought joy to the world by raising Jesus from the dead. By the prayers of Mary his Mother, and of all the myrrh-bearing women,

raise us up with Jesus and bring us to the fullness of life.  We ask this through the same Jesus Christ, our Risen Love.  Amen.
