Greeting/Invocation

We light the EASTER CANDLE and say or sing:

Christ our Light!

~Thanks be to God!

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, alleluia!

~And kindle in us the fire of your love, alleluia!

HYMN FOR PENTECOST

A mighty Wind invades the world,
So strong and free on beating wing:
It is the Spirit of our God
From Whom all truth and freedom spring.

The Spirit is a fountain clear
Forever leaping to the sky,
Whose waters give unending life,
Whose timeless Source is never dry.

The Spirit comes in tongues of flame.
With love and wisdom burning bright.
The Wind, the Fountain, and the Fire
Combine in this great feast of light.

O tranquil Spirit, bring us peace,
With God the Abba and the Son.
We praise you, blessed Trinity,
Unchanging and forever One. Amen, Alleluia!

SERVICE    OF THE WORD

Evening Psalmody

Antiphon

God has sent the Spirit of the Son into our hearts:

the Spirit that cries: “ABBA, Who-Gave-Me-My-Life!”

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Psalm 144/145a

I will give you glory, O Sovereign God!

I will bless your Name forever.

I will bless you day after day

and praise your Name forever.

Adonai is great, and worthy of praise!

Such greatness can never be measured!

Age to age proclaims your works,

recounts all your mighty deeds,

tells of your splendor and glory

and all of your wonderful works.

They reveal your awesome power,

and tell of your marvelous deeds.

they recall your abundant goodness,

joyfully sing and ring out your justice!

Adonai is kind and full of compassion,

slow to anger, abounding in love.

How good is Adonai to all

Compassionate to every creature.

Glory to the ONE and to the WORD

And to the BREATH of Love!

As always before,

so now and evermore.  Amen

God has sent the Spirit of the Son into our hearts:

the Spirit that cries: “ABBA, Source of my Life!”

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Antiphon Two

We are sanctified through the name of our Love,

Jesus Christ, and in the Spirt of our God.

Alleluia! Alleluia!

Psalm 144/145b

All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord,

and your friends shall repeat their blessing.

They shall speak of the glory of your reign

and declare your might, O God,

Let them make known to all

your might and your glorious reign.

Your dominion lasts forever

your rule for all generations.

You are faithful in all your words

and loving in all your deeds.

You support those who have fallen

and raise all those who are bowed down.

The eyes of all creatures look to you

and you give them their food in due season.

You open wide your hand

to feed all living things.

Most just in all your ways

most loving in every deed.

You are near to all who call

who cry out from their hearts.

You grant them their desires,

hear their cry and save them.

You protect and keep alive

All who strive to love.

Let me sing the praise of my Love

let all creatures bless the holy Name,

as always before,

so now and evermore. Amen.

We are sanctified through the name of our Love,

Jesus Christ, and in the Spirt of our God.

Alleluia! Alleluia!

Canticle from Philippians

Antiphon

The Love of God has flooded our inmost heart

through the holy Spirit who is now living in us. Alleluia, Alleluia!

Refrain:

Lord Jesus:

Though he was in the form of God,

Jesus did not snatch as equality with God.

He emptied himself, taking the form of a servant

being born in the likeness of human beings.

And being found in human form he humbled himself

and became obedient unto death, even to death on a cross.

Therefore God has exalted him

and bestowed on him the Name that is above every Name;

That at the Name of Jesus, every knee must bend

in heaven, and on earth and under the earth.

And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD

to the glory of God the Abba.

Acclamation:

Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God the Abba.

Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Holy Breath of Love.

As always before, so now and evermore.  Amen.

The Love of God has flooded our inmost heart

through the holy Spirit who is now living in us. Alleluia, Alleluia!

READING          EZEKIEL 37:10-14

Adonai said to me:

Prophesy to the spirit, prophesy, O Human One, and say:

From the four winds come, O spirit, and breathe into these slain that they may come to life.  I prophesied as Adonai told me, and the Spirit came into them;

they came alive and stood upright, a vast army.  Then Adonai told me to say: O my people, I will open your graves and have you rise from them, and bring you back to the land of Israel.

Responsory

R.  Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created: * alleluia, alleluia!  R. And you shall renew the face of the earth *alleluia, alleluia!   V.  Glory to the Abba and the Word and the Holy Breath of Love.

Gospel Canticle

Antiphon

When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you shall receive power; and you shall be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. Alleluia!  Alleluia!

Canticle of Mary

My heart + is radiant with the Lord,

My whole being delights in God my Savior.

All people now will call me blessed

For God has loved this humble handmaid.

The Almighty has shown me great favor

Holy is the NAME,

Whose mercy embraces the faithful,

From one generation to the next.

The mighty arm of God,

Scatters the proud in their own conceit,

Pulls tyrants from their thrones

While lifting up the lowly:

Fills the famished with bounty,

And reveals the emptiness of riches.

Rescues lowly Israel,

Sharing such loving kindness,

As promised to our ancestors

To Abraham and Sarah, and their descendants forever.

Glory to the One and to the Word

And to the Breath of Love

As always before

So now and evermore. Amen

When the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you shall receive power; and you shall be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. Alleluia!  Alleluia!
